The Must-Have Pieces From Day 4 of Fashion Week

1. Heavy Metals: Hood by Air’s fall collection was celebrated with a performance of breakdancing models that exploded all over Instagram at about noon Sunday. The conceptual urban clothing line is heralded by a lot of rappers (Kanye West has been in attendance for many HBA shows) and the fans of the brand have a distinctive style that borders on outrageous. My favorite part of the show, however, was the silver and gold Nike Air Max sneakers. Not only do they make every outfit super-cool, but they're unisex. I mean, can we get a better Valentine’s Day gift? I think not.

2. Holy Hallelujah: The Thakoon show was a scene today that bordered on dangerous. Since just about every major fashion person in New York City right now was in attendance, the atmosphere was charged with an excited (and chic) energy. When the show started, I heard the audience gasp at Thakoon’s introduction of a turtleneck-poncho hybrid, which I haven’t even begun to think of names for. A poncho-neck? A turtle-cho? Yea, I know, needs work. Anyway, the models marched to Rufus Wainwright’s "Hallelujah" and everyone seemed to love Thakoon’s evolved knitwear and signature prints. Hallelujah, indeed.

3. Pretty Pozo: I can’t believe that Delpozo shows in New York and not in Paris, which might be more suited to its high drama, but I’m not complaining. Delpozo has been my favorite show so far: Designer Josep Font has an ethereal aesthetic that is so fueled by fantasy, he will make you forget where you are. In the show venue yesterday with its panoramic views of the city and a live band, I still felt like we were all transported to a totally different place.

4. Victor Victoria: Victoria Beckham’s evolution as a designer has been so impressive. With the entire Beckham brood in tow, she showed her take on fall fashion, which includes sophisticated separates and luxury basics. Where I always defined the Victoria Beckham woman as seductively chic, much like the designer herself, this collection introduced androgynous style. There were flats! There were skirts over dresses! There was oversized outerwear! If that’s who the Victoria Beckham woman is, then man, I feel like a VB woman.

5. And the Band Played On: The Band of Outsiders presentation in Soho was a quirky preppy wonderland. From cozy knits to bright floral prints, the fall collection ran the gamut for every girl. There were plaids for those who lean towards classic menswear, monochromatic knits for those who like to keep it simple, and poppy prints for the girly girl. It seemed like this season Band of Outsiders was interested in bringing everyone in, and I loved it.
