Kristen Wiig shows off slender figure in edgy geometric leather dress at Hateship Loveship premiere

Kristen Wiig went bold at the premiere of her new film.

The 40-year-old actress swathed her willowy figure in a multi-coloured geometric dress at the showing of Hateship Loveship at the Cinema Society in New York on Tuesday.

The funky number featured a sleeveless turtleneck top and a flowing wrap skirt – in red, black, and white.

The Bridesmaids star dressed it up with a pair of pointed toe pumps featuring gold detailing, along with gold bracelets, and dark red lipstick.

Kristen wore her blonde hair short and cropped close to her chin, with a side part.

The leggy blonde stars in Hateship Loveship as Johanna Perry, the nanny that a wild teenage girl tries to set up with her father, a recovering addict.

The girl named Sabitha, played by Hailee Steinfeld, begins to write fake love letters to Johanna, from her father Ken, played by Guy Pearce.

Johanna starts off having lived with an elderly woman for 15 years as her caretaker, and is rather lacking in the social skills department.

Director Liza Johnson shared with HuffPost Live why she found Kristen a suitable actress for such a role.

‘I love her work and I think she’s a massive talent and obviously she’s hilarious,’ Liza said.

‘And the story is based on an Alice Monroe story, who I actually do think has a dry sense of humour. She’s known as a really serious literary writer filled with blunted characters who are not always in situations that are funny.

‘I thought Kristen would understand this character.

'Because I feel like the characters she’s created in her body of work – although much of that body of work is comic – they have a core of some emotions that I think are in common with this character.’

The film initially debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013, and is set for an April 11 release in the United States.

Also pictured in attendance at the Tuesday premiere were Kristen’s co-star Sami Gayle as well as Yoko Ono, amongst many others.
