Longmeadow couple accused of recruiting 15-year-old for wedding day threesome

A Longmeadow couple will stand trial today in Hampden Superior Court for child rape in connection with an alleged threesome with a 15-year-old girl on their wedding day.

Edward Chang and his wife, Thanaphat Ratanasirivillai, arranged the encounter on dating website OKCupid.com as a wedding present to one another, according to lawyers in the case.

Chang stands accused of two counts of rape and abuse of a child aggravated by age difference; indecent assault and battery on a person over 14; enticement of a child under 16; and three counts of indecent assault on a person over 14.

Ratanasirivillai, 25, has been charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child; indecent assault and battery on a person over 14; enticement of a child under the age of 16; and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

Ratanasirivillai, a Thai national, was a graduate student at Cornell University when she married Chang on Dec. 31, 2012. Defense lawyers are expected to present evidence that the girl was complicit in the alleged encounter.

Chang, 34, faces a 10-year mandatory minimum prison sentence because of the age difference.
