Business helps customers present a positive image to the world

Have you ever asked yourself: “How does this outfit look on me?” If so, perhaps a visit to Sophisticated Personal Shopper is in order.

Sofia Cordoba started Sophisticated Personal Shopper to help clients find wardrobe ideas that work best for their body types.

Cordoba, who opened the business in August 2013, moved to Madison from her native Colombia in 2011. She saw that Madison was a prime location to start a business and decided to use the experience she gained while building her own clothing business and working as a retail manager in Colombia.

Cordoba started working in the fashion industry when she was 16 as a model in advertising campaigns, fashion events and television shows. After working for several years in fashion, she wanted to focus on something related to personal image.

She earned a degree in marketing and advertising from Politécnico Grancolombiano in Bogota, Colombia. This provided her with the foundation to understand the commercial structure of the fashion industry. In addition, the education allowed her to learn and appreciate the consumer’s sensitivity and the importance of image in the corporate world.

While attending college, she started to develop her own clothing business, which confirmed and reinforced her love for fashion and personal image. After graduation, Cordoba moved to Madrid to specialize as an image consultant, personal shopper and style creator.

Cordoba offers the following services for men and women: color and body analysis, wardrobe cleaning, a shopping tour, outfit combinations, perfect suitcase, corporate services and special occasions.

Different packages can be created depending on clients’ goals and objectives. Cordoba offers makeup tips and hair color suggestions as well.

“We think of our services as a great investment for one’s life. Our business not only guides people to maximize their look but also to implement the tools learned to be applied in their everyday life,” Cordoba said.

Skills that Cordoba says are necessary in her job are an acute eye and ear to absorb everything a client is sharing to make the best decisions to help them. It is also important for her to keep up with the latest trends, fashion tips, updates and styles because fashion is an industry that quickly changes.
